Wasi Mahin

I build financial software that replaces manual workflows — two tools are live in a real office, used every working day. Not demos. Production.

What I Build

Python Automation

Zero-API desktop RPA that reads PDFs, parses Excel files, and drives enterprise ERP software directly — no credentials, no integration, just results. Both tools run live in a business office every working day.

2 tools in production · ~96% & 95% time eliminated

BI & Dashboards

Executive-ready Power BI and Tableau dashboards built with DAX, custom data models, and ETL pipelines — delivered directly to Microsoft stakeholders.

Financial Analytics

SQL-driven budget analysis, reconciliation, and reporting across 500+ campus organizations — backed by dual-major accounting expertise and 100% audit accuracy.

500+ orgs · SQL · Bank Reconciliation

AI & Prompt Engineering

Microsoft Copilot workflows and prompt engineering pipelines that cut financial reporting and extraction time by 70–80% — without any external API or paid integration.

About

MIS & Accountancy dual-major at Cal State Long Beach (GPA 3.87, President's Honor List every semester since Fall 2023). I've been building production tools and financial systems for 1.5+ years — not side projects, but actual automation used by real staff at a real organization.

My background is unusual: I bridge software engineering instincts with deep financial domain knowledge. I understand both the Python that drives the automation and the accounting entries it's filling out. That combination is what makes the tools actually work in practice.

My focus areas span Data Analytics, Business Intelligence, Financial Technology, and Business Analysis — anywhere the intersection of software and finance creates measurable impact.

Current role: VP of Finance at AIS CSULB, overseeing a $5,000+ operating budget and grant funding for a 100+ member organization.

Previous: Lead Business Office Representative at ASI CSULB, where I built the automation tools, ran financial operations for 500+ campus orgs, and redesigned office workflows from the ground up.

Before that: Business Analyst Intern on Project Microsoft, building Power BI dashboards and ETL pipelines for Microsoft stakeholders alongside the AIS team.

Projects

PROJ 01

Snehin Check Request Helper

~96%
processing time eliminated
3–5 min → under 10 sec per invoice
Live in Production

The Problem

Manual PDF-to-ERP data entry consumed significant staff hours per batch. No API existed. No ERP credentials available. The only path was a human typing into Business Central, field by field.

The Approach

Zero-API desktop RPA: parses vendor invoice PDFs with pdfplumber, extracts structured data, then drives the Business Central UI directly via pyautogui. No credentials, no integration.

PROJ 02

BC Journal Entry Bot

↑95%
reduction in processing time
Multi-source automation: PDF + Excel
Live in Production

The Problem

Journal entry processing required manually reading DocuSign PDFs and CashNet Excel files, then re-entering every debit/credit line into Business Central. Slow, error-prone, and repeated constantly.

The Approach

Automated end-to-end: reads PDF and Excel sources, structures debit/credit lines, then enters complete journal entries into Business Central via hotkey automation. No manual re-keying.

PROJ 03

Is the American Dream Still Attainable?

🏆 3rd Place  ·  AIS Annual Datathon 2026

The Question

Is economic mobility still achievable for the average household? The team interrogated purchasing power, regional inequality, and structural cost-of-living shifts — going beyond surface-level income numbers.

The Analysis

End-to-end economic research: income growth vs. household purchasing power, cost-of-living adjustments, regional wealth inequality — all visualized in Tableau with a clear narrative arc.

One Piece Bounty Analytics Dashboard

📊
Interactive BI dashboard
Kaggle datasets · Chart.js visualizations

The Goal

Build a real-world BI problem from scratch: combine disparate datasets, design a data model, and create an interactive dashboard that tells a narrative story rather than just displaying numbers.

The Result

Treats bounty as a proxy for value and risk. Unified Kaggle datasets into a single model; Chart.js visualizations let users explore patterns across crews, arcs, and regions interactively.
